About Shaan

Hi, I’m Shaan! I’m a Creative Computing graduate with First Class Honours from the University of the Arts London, specialising in the practical and innovative side of Computer Science.

I have been teaching coding since 2023, working as a Coding Teacher and Camp Leader, where I teach both block-based and text-based programming to children and young learners. I focus on breaking down complex concepts into clear, engaging lessons that build confidence and encourage curiosity.

I’m particularly passionate about supporting students who find Computer Science challenging. I personally struggled with the subject earlier in my education and understand how frustrating it can feel. Through persistence and effective learning techniques, I went on to achieve an 8 (A*) in GCSE Computer Science. This experience allows me to genuinely empathise with students and recognise where they may be getting stuck.

I believe Computer Science, while challenging, is an incredibly rewarding and valuable subject. My goal as a tutor is to make coding feel approachable, enjoyable, and empowering, while helping students develop strong problem-solving skills and confidence in their abilities.

About the lesson

I mainly aim to help GCSE and younger students, but I would happily be able to give lessons on A-Level topics.

I would first like to get to know you as a student and the methods you learn best, so I can tailor my lessons to be efficient and beneficial for you. I would also like to find out the particular parts of the course you find the hardest so we can help you gain confidence in those areas.

After, getting to know you better and understanding how you learn, we will start breaking down certain topics into smaller sections to simplify the content. Depending on how you feel, we can keep going over certain areas or move on straight away. Once you feel confident in an area, we will move on to exam questions to see id they can execute the knowledge.

During that part of the session, we will also be looking at exam techniques and the easiest ways to pick up marks.
