About Carol
I have taught art in the California public school system for 17 years. Eleven of those years were at the high school level where I instructed Advanced Placement Art students and International Baccalaureate Art students. In addition I taught art and a Gifted and Talented Education curriculum to K-8 students at a charter school.

I teach art to students from kindergarten to grade 12 at beginning to advanced levels.
LESSON STRUCTURE:
Introduction - Discover what students already know about the content of the new lesson.
Content - Present new information about an artist, movement, or technique with reference to new vocabulary.
Students Interaction - Give students time to discuss new concepts and come up with their own questions about the new information.
Demonstration - Show students how to use materials and methods to create a new artwork.
Challenge - Assign a visual problem for students to solve using the new information, materials, and methods from the lesson.
Studio time - Students are given time to work on their art.
METHODOLOGY: I see myself as a facilitator and coach to the art student. The process of art making is more important than the end product. I challenge students to think deeply about the meaning behind their work.
