About Andrea
My name is Andrea Russell and I teach First Grade in rural Iowa. I love continuing my education, learning more about how young learners learn. I have a young child of my own, so I know how important time is and having the right person working with your child providing the what they need and not what everyone says they need. I hope to get to work with those who are excited to learn, and even those who may be hesitant or resentful toward learning. Learning looks different for everyone and I hope to provide a great learning experience for all.

I am a hands on teacher, always looking to find creative and innovative ways to capture the attentions of students I am working with. When teaching I always try to incorporate movement, interests, and not exceed 20-30 minuets on a topic as research shows that prolonged time on one area does not allow the brain to learn or grow faster.
The lessons I would provide would be geared toward primary grades, helping young learners create a strong foundation in phonics, phonemic awareness and reading.
