About Sultana

Here’s an updated version that sounds more natural and reflects the full range of subjects you actually tutor, including college-level science and essay writing:
I earned my B.A. in Biology from the University of Virginia on the pre-med track, which gave me a strong foundation in both the life sciences and quantitative subjects. I have supported students from elementary school through college in a wide range of subjects, including English, college essay writing and revision, algebra, math, biology, anatomy, chemistry, biochemistry, and organic chemistry. I also help students develop better study habits, organize their coursework, prepare for exams, and break down difficult material into manageable steps.
I have more than four years of experience tutoring K–12 students, particularly in STEM and English, and have also worked with college students in higher-level science courses. My experience as an educator and my background working alongside healthcare professionals and university researchers have helped me explain scientific concepts in ways that are understandable without oversimplifying them. I am also familiar with AP and IB coursework and understand the importance of helping students not only complete their assignments, but develop the organization, study strategies, and confidence they need to become more independent learners.
I enjoy working with students who may be struggling with a subject or simply want to challenge themselves further. My goal is to meet students where they are, identify what is making a subject difficult, and help them build the skills and confidence to succeed academically.

About the lesson

I provide one-on-one tutoring lessons for students from elementary school through college. Lessons are adjusted to the student’s current level, goals, and learning style rather than following the exact same structure for everyone.

Science: Biology, anatomy, chemistry, biochemistry, and organic chemistry. I can help with understanding difficult concepts, reviewing lecture material, working through practice questions, preparing for exams, and connecting different topics together so the material makes more sense.

Math: Elementary and middle school math, algebra, and other foundational math skills. Lessons can focus on homework support, reviewing concepts, practicing problems, or preparing for tests.

English & Writing: Reading comprehension, grammar, essay writing, college essays, and revision. For college and scholarship essays, I can help students organize their ideas, improve clarity and structure, and revise their own writing while keeping their voice.

Study Skills & Exam Preparation: I also provide lessons focused on studying more effectively. This can include organizing assignments, creating study plans, breaking large topics into smaller sections, practicing active recall, and working through questions instead of simply memorizing information.

For science courses especially, my goal is not just to give students the answer. I want them to understand why the answer is correct and develop a way of approaching similar questions on their own.

If this is for a tutoring profile where parents/students choose individual lessons, I can also make it more like a list of specific lesson packages (e.g., "Biology Exam Prep,” “College Essay Revision,” “Organic Chemistry Help,” “Homework Help,”etc.).

The tutor, upon first talking with my kids asked them what method of learning they prefer and what they want to get from the tutor. Which I liked cause every student is different. They worked with me younger daughter differently than my oldest. The oldest is more mature. My younger one has a harder time contracting so they were more active in their approach by using a call-and-response style she calls in that my daughter found fun and engaging.
