About Jenna
I am excited for any opportunity to help students reach their potential whether it is supporting them in gaining foundational skills or reaching new heights with challenging them academically. I had tutors all throughout my elementary, middle, and high school years and I am thankful because I grew as a learner, my confidence blossomed, and I gained important life skills that brought me to where I am today. As an English teacher of five years, I've seen a range of abilities and from this, I know that this subject area is a tough one for many kids. With this being said, I believe that exploring students' areas of interest is one way to bridge the gap in this skills-based subject. I am proud that I can say I developed curriculum in the past based on the students who I taught so that they could connect with the material and build their knowledge and skills around topics of choice.

I am very down-to-earth. I like to know who my students are and from that I find and create lessons about their interests. A typical lesson opens with conversations about how the day is going to gauge where the student is at mentally and emotionally around the topic of school. In my experience, kids like adults who listen to them and acknowledge what they're feeling. This is how I develop trust with my students, which makes diving into the skills and content easier!
My lessons are for students in grades 5-12 who are seeking extra support or enrichment in English Language Arts (reading, writing, speaking, and listening). All levels are welcome!
