About Jade
Hi there, my name is Jade and I am currently in my second year of a Graduate Entry Medical degree at the University of Nottingham. I also have a BA in History from the University of Warwick and studied a combination of science and humanities A Levels.
I have a true passion for learning which has led me to pursue many different subjects (and two degrees!). My own experience of finding joy in learning has convinced me that all of us can experience this drive to understand more about our world, whether that be through science, history, literature or any other subject, if we have a teacher who can share this enthusiasm.
I love working with pupils/ students of all ages, supporting them to develop their knowledge, skills and confidence. I think it is important for a tutor to create an atmosphere in which pupils feel comfortable and confident to 'have a go' and really engage with the subject, without fear of making mistakes. I aim to make whatever subject I am teaching both accessible and enjoyable, as I believe this is when we learn best!
I have taught English Language to Key Stage 3, 4 and 5 pupils in South Africa, where many of my students spoke English as a second language. This was a fantastic experience for me to develop my skills and I am very happy to work with pupils for whom English is a second language here in the UK. I also have experience tutoring GSCE Science in the UK and have had success building pupils' confidence to engage with this potentially challenging subject, enabling them to develop their understanding of key concepts and apply this to exam questions.
