About Mario
I'm a UC Davis graduate with a BA and 7 years of experience teaching and tutoring students of all ages. Over the years, I've worked in classroom settings and one-on-one environments, helping learners build real skills in English, History, Social-Emotional Learning, and more. I'm patient, adaptable, and committed to creating a space where every student feels comfortable enough to take risks and grow.
Outside of teaching, I'm a curious and creative person with a lot of interests — I make music, create art, code, play video games, cook, garden, and hike. I'm also deeply passionate about history and political science. These aren't just hobbies — they make me a better tutor. They help me connect with students on their level and bring fresh energy and ideas into every session.
I believe great tutoring is built on trust, respect, and genuine enthusiasm. I take my work seriously, show up prepared, and always keep communication open with students and families.

Hi there! With 7 years of teaching experience and a BA from UC Davis, I'm passionate about making every lesson personal, engaging, and actually fun.
My approach is student-centered and adaptive. I get to know your goals, strengths, and interests, then build lessons around what motivates you — whether that means working through essay structure step by step or breaking down a reading passage together in real time.
Lessons typically include a warm-up discussion, focused skill-building in reading, writing, grammar, or vocabulary, and something creative or interactive to wrap up. I bring a wide range of personal passions into my teaching — art, music making, video gaming, coding, history, political science, cooking, gardening, and hiking — and I love using them to make learning click. If your child loves Minecraft, let's use it for persuasive writing. If they're into cooking, we can build reading skills through recipes. The best learning happens when it connects to something you actually care about.
Beyond English, I also tutor History and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), weaving critical thinking and communication skills into every session. My diverse interests mean I can connect with almost any student — whether they're a gamer, an artist, an outdoor adventurer, or a future politician.
