About Max

I have been a tutor for over 5 years, and a student for 25! I graduated from a competitive liberal arts college (Wesleyan University) with a 3.8 GPA and high honors, and then completed a rigorous two year pre-medical post bacc program, graduating with a 4.0 GPA before starting my doctorate. I am currently working towards earning my doctorate in clinical psychology (PsyD), balancing classes, writing my dissertation, and seeing patients as a psychotherapist on top of working as a tutor--so I know I thing or two about organization and time management! I love the challenge of working with a hugely diverse array of students, and have done everything from helping a 5 year old who was falling behind during COVID learn to read, to coaching a highschool senior through writing his college application essays to Stanford--and everything in between. I take pride in my dedication to my students and enjoy the process of helping each one achieve their goals, reduce their stress, and feel good about the work they do in school.

About the lesson

As a doctoral student in clinical psychology with training in both assessment and psychotherapy, I pride myself on getting to know each of my students, taking time to learn their unique learning styles, strengths and weaknesses, and overall personality. I then use this information to tailor the structure and pace of lessons to best suit my students' needs. I have extensive experience working with students with organizational difficulties, learning disabilities and ADHD.

I have worked with students as young as elementary school up to college-age students, and everything in between.

Elementary school: I can help with basic reading and writing skills.

Middle school: I can assist students in all subjects, and provide support with general organization and time management.

Highschool: I can assist with English, literature, history, AP psychology courses, or essentially class with a reading and writing component. I have extensive training and experience with academic writing and can help write, edit, and proofread essays for any class which requires it.

College: I am qualified to assist with any courses in the humanities or social sciences (e.g. world history, philosophy, psychology, sociology, anthropology, art history etc.) and can assist with general time management and organization of undergraduate workload. I have specific expertise in psychology, which is my current field of study and practice.
