About Joshua
Joshua So, 20, is an oboist from Syracuse, New York studying under Richard Killmer at Eastman School of Music. He attended the Interlochen Arts Academy (2019 - 2022) where he played in the Academy Wind Symphony and Academy Orchestra. There, he also performed in masterclasses led by Dr. Kim Ganong, Titus Underwood, and Jaren Atherholt. He placed in the Music International Grand Prix (Semifinalist), Baroque on Beaver-Young Artist Competition (Honorable Mention), Interlochen Concerto Competition (Finalist), Bellegrande International Music Competition (2nd Place), and “Golden Classical Music Awards” International Competition (First Place). As a winner of the Eastern Music Festival Concerto Competition (2023), he made his Concerto Debut with the Martinu Oboe Concerto. Summer Festival appearances include Eastern Music Festival, Roundtop Festival Institute, and Sarasota Music Festival, where he received a full tuition scholarship. At Eastman, Joshua regularly performs in the Eastman Wind Quintet, Wind Orchestra, and Symphony Orchestra.
