About Callum

Hello, I'm Callum, a Finance, Accounting and Management student at the University of Nottingham with a passion for helping students achieve their academic goals. I often feel that many students have the potential to go incredibly far, but due to unfavourable environments, a lack of guidance, limited confidence, or simply not yet understanding the opportunities available to them in the future, they never fully realise what they are capable of achieving. Helping students recognise their own potential and develop the skills needed to reach it is one of the most rewarding aspects of tutoring.

I achieved A* grades in both Economics and Business at A-Level and currently maintain strong university results, achieving an 82% average in my first year and a 79% average in my second year. Alongside my studies, I have gained valuable professional experience through an internship with HSBC, developing analytical, communication and problem-solving skills that I bring into my tutoring.

One of the reasons I enjoy tutoring is that I understand how challenging academic subjects can sometimes feel. In Economics, I improved from a C in my first year mock exams to an A* at A-Level, which taught me the importance of effective revision techniques, exam strategy and consistent effort. This experience allows me to relate to students who may be struggling with confidence or looking to push themselves towards the highest grades.

I aim to create a supportive, encouraging and professional learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and developing their understanding. Whether you are aiming to strengthen your foundations, improve your exam technique or achieve top grades, I am committed to helping you reach your potential.

About the lesson

My lessons are tailored to each student's individual needs, whether they are aiming to improve their understanding of key economic concepts, build confidence, or achieve the highest grades in GCSE or A-Level Economics.

In my first year A-Level Economics mock exams, I achieved a C. Through disciplined revision, effective exam technique and focused study strategies, I turned this into an A* at A-Level. This experience gave me first-hand insight into the challenges students face and the methods that can lead to significant improvement. I focus not only on understanding the content, but also on the exam technique required to turn knowledge into marks, as students often have the ability, but lack the technique or confidence.

Lessons typically last one hour, although longer sessions can be arranged if required. A typical lesson may include reviewing difficult topics, working through exam-style questions, analysing mark schemes, improving essay structure, and developing effective revision techniques. I adapt each lesson to the student's current level and learning style to ensure they get the most value from our time together.

I am currently studying Finance, Accounting and Management at the University of Nottingham, where I achieved an 82% average in my first year (the highest in my cohort), and a 79% in second year, despite having a major double jaw surgery just 4 weeks before exams, so I know exactly how to assist students who may be going through challenging life events during exam periods. Alongside my studies, I have 2 years of tutoring experience supporting students in their academic development and helping them build confidence in their abilities.

My lessons are suitable for GCSE and A-Level Economics students of all abilities, from those looking to strengthen their foundations to those aiming for the highest grades.
