I aim to create in my students a deep understanding and confidence in answering exam questions and being able to tackle new and unfamiliar problems.
My approach varies depending on the student’s needs and learning style. However my teaching philosophy is based on encouraging students to think for themselves, using real-world examples wherever possible. I start from topics the students are comfortable with and move gradually towards more complex areas as their confidence builds. I use questions and examples to check understanding continually. I don’t lecture to students or ask them to memorise things. Nor do I do the students’ homework for them!
I am currently a criminology student, have also completed first year in nursing.
Have completed 200 hours in a primary school, helping children learn.
Experienced in tutoring primary school and high school children. Am experienced in many different subject areas.
I just felt I should give some feedback as people are usually so quick to complain and so slow with compliments. My son Nathan got 53% in a test when we decided to get a tutor. We got Tahjanna and she was absolutely amazing. So focused, and covered so much. Nathan really started to understand the things he had not understood before. After a few sessions Nathan told me that he really liked maths, and he was thinking about doing a higher level of maths at school. He got 93% in his last test. Thank you
