About Dineth
I'm an economist by training and an investment analyst by profession, based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. I studied Economics and Finance under the University of London with LSE academic direction, completed CFA Level 1, and I'm currently working towards CFA Level 2.
I've been teaching Economics for over seven years, and it's the part of my week I look forward to most. What keeps me doing it is the moment a student stops seeing Economics as a set of definitions to memorise and starts seeing it as a way to understand how the real world actually works, why prices move, why economies grow or stall, why policies succeed or fail. Because I work with these ideas professionally every day, I can show students that the theory on their syllabus isn't abstract; it's the same thinking used in real markets.
I take exam preparation seriously and I'm genuinely invested in my students' results, but I also want them to leave understanding the subject, not just passing it. That balance, top grades and real understanding, is what I aim for with every student I work with.

I teach Edexcel International A Level (Units 1–4) and GCE A Level Economics (Papers 1–3), helping students from AS through to A2 and resits aim for the top grades.
My background is a BSc in Economics and Finance under the University of London with LSE academic direction, where I was formally recognised by the Board of Examiners as among the highest-scoring candidates worldwide in first-year Mathematics. I've completed CFA Level 1 and I'm currently a Level 2 candidate, and I work as an investment analyst, so the macroeconomics and global-economy material students find hardest is what I deal with in practice every week. I bring that real-world application straight into lessons.
My teaching is built entirely around the mark scheme. Students learn to answer the exact command word, apply specific data from the extract, and write evaluation that reaches a proper judgement on the higher-mark essays, which is where most marks are won or lost. Every student gets detailed written feedback on their work, marked the way an examiner marks.
Lessons run 60 to 90 minutes and are tailored to each student's exam board, target grade, and weak areas. Whether you're starting AS, pushing for an A* at A2, or resitting to lift your grade, I'll build a clear plan to get you there.
