About Maria
I am an Elementary Education major studying at BYU. Math is one of my favorite subjects, and have taken advanced math courses including calculus. In addition, I have taken two university courses specifically about teaching math to elementary school students. I have experience working with students of all ages, from kindergarten to college. I have taught in a kindergarten class, summer camps, done private tutoring, volunteered at local elementary schools, and been a teaching assistant for a university science course. I truly care about the success of each of my students and want to help meet their needs. I want to help my students learn to love math and be confident in their mathematical abilities.

My math lessons are all about the needs of my students. You tell me what area(s) you need help with, and I can create an individualized lesson plan. For elementary school students, I like using physical manipulatives as a part of my lessons to help students visualize math problems and expand their mental math skills. My lessons are good for elementary and middle school students, as well as high school math up to algebra and geometry.

Maria taught math to my homeschooled 7th grader. She was very patient and was able to explain things in a different way or use a different technique for concepts my daughter was struggling with.
