About Shabaaz
I’m the Founder and Chief Instructor of United Martial Arts Academy, a 4th Dan Black Belt with over 25 years of martial arts experience across striking, MMA and practical self-defence. My coaching goes beyond teaching you how to punch or kick. I work with people who want to become a stronger, more confident and capable version of themselves, physically and mentally. Training is tailored around you. Depending on your goals, we can focus on:
* Real-world self-defence and personal safety
* Striking, MMA and fighting skills
* Confidence, composure and assertiveness
* Fitness, strength and conditioning *
* Body language, presence and mental resilience
* Getting comfortable under pressure
* Unlocking a more disciplined, capable version of yourself
I have delivered martial arts and self-defence training to organisations including the Metropolitan Police and British Armed Forces, and have coached complete beginners through to competitive martial artists and national champions. My approach combines traditional martial arts discipline with modern combat training. You don’t need to be fit, flexible or experienced before you start. Everything is built progressively around your current level. For some clients, the goal is learning to fight. For others, it is walking into a room with more confidence, getting back into shape, learning how to protect themselves, or simply feeling formidable again.

Each session is private, focused and built around your goals. We’ll usually start by identifying what you want to improve, whether that’s confidence, self-defence, fitness, striking, fighting ability or simply becoming more composed under pressure.
Lessons can include:
* Boxing, kickboxing and MMA fundamentals
* Practical self-defence for real-world situations
* Pad work, movement, timing and combinations
* Defence, counters and controlled sparring
* Fitness and conditioning * Confidence, posture and presence
* Staying calm and thinking clearly under pressure
You’ll be challenged, but never thrown in at the deep end. Beginners are completely welcome.
For clients who want ongoing development, I can also build a structured programme over several weeks covering technique, fitness, self-defence and mindset.
