About Esther

I have 6 years' experience of teaching in secondary schools and leading a history department, and before I was a qualified teacher, I worked as a teaching assistant. I love history, but more importantly, I love teaching and working with young people, and get great satisfaction from supporting students of all levels to make progress and gain confidence. I have experience teaching KS3, KS4 and A Level History and Ancient History GCSE. I have taught a broad range of students online and am well-equipped to adapt lessons to support young people with Special Educational Needs. My experience transfers well to tutoring, where I strive to support your specific needs on a one-to-one basis. I'll take into account your current level of attainment, your goals and your preferred style of learning to create lessons that work for you.

About the lesson

My lessons are flexible to your needs, but a typical History or Ancient History tutoring lesson will include: - Knowledge recall - Review of content previously taught or content you are finding tricky in school - Teaching of new content - Discussion/questioning - Skills focus, e.g. tackling source analysis, explain questions, extended writing. I am an adaptable teacher, so if there is something specific you want to work on, let me know and we'll work on it together! I am happy to hear from students in school who want some extra support, students who are being home schooled or students not currently attending school.
