My lessons start with real life situations which inspire students into learning a topic. Next I give students a simple problem to mull over and let them try to figure out how they can solve it. In most cases they cannot as it is a new topic. I then give them stepping stones, which leads to the answer. This concretizes the concepts in their minds.
