About Himanshu
I am a business degree graduate from University of British Columbia. I provided math tutoring for a year during my Engineering degree. I have high amount of Math skill and experience because both my degrees and my previous work experience as an engineer demanded a lot of complex calculations. I have lived in 3 countries; India, USA, and now Canada. Studying and working abroad with people from various continents had given me great communication skills, hence making me an effective teacher.
My tutoring experience began with initially coaching my close friends who were not very experienced with mathematics. As I was constantly working with numbers and equations, I was able to help them to understand concepts and problems they were having trouble with. Later on, I started private tutoring part-time to support my studies in the USA. It was a very emotionally rewarding experience for me.

I like to teach by trying to build a sense of curiosity about a subject. I try to engage in conversation, in an attempt to learn about the student's needs and to gauge the understanding and interest in the specific subject. I will try to understand the strengths and weaknesses and then try to find an approach which utilizes the strengths while at the same time improving on the weaknesses. I am a very empathetic and patient tutor who will explain over and over the meaning of a specific concept if it is tough to understand. I understand that every student has his/her unique abilities and it is important to make these shine. I ask beforehand about the topic which needs tutoring and any specific topics that students are having trouble with. I will then personalize my approach to maximize the value for the learners.
