About Jessica
I graduated in 2020 with my BA in English. My aim is to teach at the secondary level but I have postponed these plans due to the pandemic. In the interim, I’m looking for virtual English tutoring. During my senior year of undergrad, I tutored teens (ages 14-18) in literacy, comprehension, grammar, literary analysis, essay-writing and proofreading, and standardized test prep.

My educational modalities are largely self-guided. Cultivating a permissive, flexible, and free environment is very important to me; I have seen measurable academic achievement in settings where the student feels that they are in control of the material—where they select the content they want to focus on and decide on their own (and often with my guidance) how best to tackle it. In order for a self-directed model to be successful, it is imperative that I forge close relationships with my students. Creating and holding comfortable, warm, and nurturing space for all students is my goal.
