About Susi

I have Cambridge CELTA certification with 12 years of experience. I have worked in language schools in Seville, Barcelona, Antigua Guatemala, Rio de Janeiro, London and Perugia Italy and given private classes with students from all over the world, both in person and online. I work with all ages, from 6 year olds, teens, young adults, college students to adults up to 75 years old! I have focused on Cambridge exam preparation classes for the past 10 years, plus I have taught in multinational businesses like Ernst and Young and KPMG and in primary and secondary schools. During my professional career I have constantly been at the forefront of updates and new methodologies in the world of education and TEFL by attending various conferences and frequent training sessions.

About the lesson

My classes are always varied and interactive. I combine a mixture of speaking, listening, writing and grammar, general concepts and dynamic activities. Having said that, I always have a focus from oral practice, speaking is the only way to improve a language!

Every student is different, I respond to the requirements of each one and I am flexible depending on their learning style, goals, interests, age, etc. I adapt to my students and listen to their needs. I believe that communication between the student and teacher is something that is vital to effective teaching.

I design the course and plan the classes to achieve the objectives of my students and depending on their level and interests. I use relevant subjects and topics with a focus on 'real-world' language. I am interested in current affairs and I am creative and innovative, I can guarantee that I will find things for us to discuss that will interest you. You will find the classes entertaining which is the best way to learn!

Due to my extensive experience, I am always able to quickly change the direction of the class to answer any questions that may arise. Furthermore, my expert knowledge of English grammar and philology mean that I can pinpoint my student's weaknesses and errors and we can immediately work on them. I explain clearly and simply, give examples and context so that concepts are easy to understand. I have a long history of teaching students with first language Spanish or Catalan, so I am familiar with their most common mistakes and what they find easy and difficult. Spanish is my second language, I have been in the other chair as a student and I understand how it feels to learn a new language, sometimes it can be very frustrating!

I have extensive knowledge of the Cambridge, Oxford and IELTS exams, so I explain exam technique, give you tricks and tips and advise you about how they mark to help you pass. My students have a high success rate.

The points that stand out from my student's feedback are my passion for the language and my commitment to their progress: I care about my students. I have also received positive feedback on how I explain points in different ways to ensure that they are fully understood. They often point out my effective error correction practice.
