About Bruce
I have a PhD in linguistic anthropology, MA in anthropology, BA in linguistics, and two ESL certificates: TESL & CELTA. I have 20 years of experience teaching in universities in Asia and university pathway courses in Canada. I have over 50 publications including SSCI journals, so I love teaching essays and APA formatting.

I am trained in Communicative Language Teaching which means I explain a grammar point, give some short, controlled practice, then engage in a long, fun, interactive practice that makes students use the linguistic point. It's like working out: if you only read about how to lift weights or play hockey but never actually lift the weights or play the game, you cannot learn.
