About Leela

I am a UCL English Literature Undergraduate, commended for my performance in seminars.

I achieved multiple scholarships (Academic and Music) to LEH, Surbiton, and Guildford High at 11+.
I then achieved Academic and Music Scholarships to Reeds Sixth Form, but instead accepted two music scholarships to Tiffin Sixth Form.

I am diploma level in Piano, and Grade 8 at both Singing and Violin.

I also speak fluent French.

About the lesson

I am a deeply intuitive teacher who listens to my tutees' concerns and addresses them through tailored classes. Often the problem lies not in the abilities, but in the confidence to try and fail. I create an environment where wrong answers are not shamed, but in fact drive us to do better and improve in ways we could never have imagined.

Lessons are an hour long, starting with the tutee's concerns, and moving on to how to combat these and more methodical exercises such as correcting a piece of work together, or running through the steps to writing an essay paragraph, etc.

I have tutored many younger students of GCSE Level, in particular English Literature, Language, French, and Music.

I can teach any age, from 11+ to GCSE to A Level and Adults.

If you want a teacher who will take your essays from a 1 to a 100 - I CAN'T recommend Leela enough. She has helped me with both creative writing for English Language GCSE AQA and my English Literature GCSE. I've genuinely gone from a 6 to 9 in a few months. Leela really explained what the examiners want and adjusted my writing style so it was still mine but more suitable to exams. She gave me great essay starters and a clear structure to follow which I needed badly. she also helped me with revision plans and was so supportive. Cheers Leela!

Leela has completely revolutionised my view of English Literature. I used to find lessons at school so hard to get through as I found writing essays a massive task I just couldn't complete. I am now at a Grade 9 GCSE Level after only 5 months!! Not only that, but I actually enjoy writing essays now I understand some simple steps to help me get started and make sure I'm staying on the right track. Leela helped me see it's not that my ideas were bad, they needed to be written differently in a way an examiner could understand my points better. Would 100% recommend to anyone looking for a teacher to help them gain confidence and ability in writing! :)
