About Erick
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have prepared students for ABRSM piano and Music theory exams from Prep to Grade 8 levels. I've also helped students with their GCSE and A levels music exams. I organise piano recitals twice a year where my students are encourage to take part. As well as teaching piano privately, I'm a piano teacher at the Dwight School in Finchley and at St. Martha's School for Girls in Hadley Wood. I have been a piano teacher since I was 19; so I have more than 10 years of experience. As a pianist I've performed as soloist and with chamber groups in Canada and the UK playing standard repertoire and my own piano works.
Recently, I am more focussed on writing music. I have had my works performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra, L'Orchestre Philarmonique de Radio France, the Mercury Ensemble, CHROMA Ensemble among others and at various music festivals. My works have been broadcast by the BBC Radio 3. My work '. . . and the Crowd (wept)', an opera based on the life of Big Brother's Jade Goody, was premiered at London's Tête à Tête Opera Festival in the summer of 2013.

- Do you have a personal message for students?
I believe that everyone can learn to play the piano Although I was strictly trained, I don't particularly believe is the only way to be good at piano. It takes practice and time though.
Children really need the support of their parents to be more successful at learning. Every lesson is usually 30 minutes long unless the pupil is more advanced and mature. I like to teach using various methods adapting to every student, we may try classical repertoire or some popular repertoire that could be instructional. I like to encourage students to learn various pieces at the same time, improve their reading, memorization and practicing skills.
My biggest goal as a piano teacher is for my pupils to be able to play the piano without the need of a teacher and for their entire lives, that may be professionally or as a lifelong skill.
