About Krithika

Krithika, 29, is a multi-disciplinary artist who is passionate about communicating through movement. Having been immersed in the arts since the young age of 5, she has always been drawn to how art heals.

Rooted in a strong foundation in Indian dance, music and Ballet, Krithika subsequently moved on to exploring Contemporary dance and fell in love with stripping movement down and examining its raw state across genres. Krithika continues to develop herself as both a dance and music artist, as she sees the two as closely intertwined. Krithika has worked with many local and international choreographers, and has herself choreographed, across genres, for television, online productions, as well as festivals such as Esplanade's Kalaa Utsavam, Scarlet Mela Festival of Arts and Brahmastra Festival of Arts.

Naturally drawn to critical analysis and deconstructing the human condition, Krithika pursued a BA (Hons) in English Literature and brings this inquisitive acuity to every artistic endeavour.

About the lesson

Art has always been a source of comfort to me, and sharing that with someone else is what's most important to me.

A typical one hour class will begin with foundation work, catered to the individual student's level of comfort or experience. This can range from complete beginners, to anyone who has some experience or even those coming back to the art form after awhile. We will then thread basics together in a short choreography piece, to understand musicality.

I have been teaching Indian classical dance for several years, to both adults and children. I have also been teaching variations of bollywood and contemporary dance to adult beginners over the last few years. I have performed extensively ininternational theatres, choreographed for festivals worldwide, and am extremely passionate about the arts and its capacity to change lives, even if its just making your week that much brighter.

Lessons are open to all ages, genders, and people from all walks of life and backgrounds. I have also worked with children with special needs, and am happy to work with you for any learning preference or style you might have.
