About Blake
I hold a diploma in Acting and Theatre History, where I became proficient in script analysis and the study of both classical and contemporary playwrights. My training includes close study of William Shakespeare as well as modern writers such as Neil LaBute and Caryl Churchill. I have applied this knowledge directly in my own creative work, with original pieces presented at a variety of theaters and festivals. My understanding of English literature, storytelling, and syntax comes from a deep passion for language and the confidence that grows from expressing ideas clearly and creatively.
I also hold a BFA in Performing and Textile Arts, and I am proficient in teaching a wide range of textile techniques, including crochet, knitting, hand sewing, and embroidery. I teach these skills at the municipal level, working directly with my community to help learners explore their creativity, develop new hobbies, or deepen existing artistic practices.
Most recently, I attended an arts education residency in Itoshima, Japan, where I was exposed to teaching approaches shaped by a completely different cultural context. This experience broadened my perspective and strengthened my ability to adapt to diverse learners. My teaching and tutoring background is expansive, and I have worked with students in my local community as well as international learners from a variety of backgrounds.
My philosophy is to meet each student exactly where they are. I am comfortable breaking concepts down to their most basic level for beginners, and equally confident working with intermediate or advanced learners who want to be challenged with more complex ideas or techniques. Whether you are exploring creative expression, developing academic skills, or picking up a new hobby, I bring patience, clarity, and enthusiasm to every lesson!
