About Olivia

My passion for supporting neurodivergent people began long before it became my career. From the age of 12, I volunteered as a mentor for neurodivergent children and teenagers at a youth club, and those experiences inspired me to pursue a career dedicated to understanding how people learn, communicate and thrive.

I went on to complete a First Class BSc (Hons) in Autism Studies at the Tizard Centre, University of Kent, where I received the Outstanding Achievement Award. My dissertation was recognised by the National Autistic Taskforce, reflecting my commitment to improving understanding and outcomes for autistic people.

I have over a decade of professional experience where I've worked with neurodivergent children, teenagers, adults and families across education, colleges, community services, independent living, one-to-one support, practice development and staff training. Throughout my career I have supported individuals with autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, intellectual and learning disabilities, complex communication needs and a wide range of additional developmental disabilities. However, rather than asking 'How do I teach this diagnosis?', I ask 'Who is this person, and what do they need to feel understood, confident and able to learn?'

One of the things I value most is building meaningful relationships with the people I support. Parents have often told me they feel genuinely understood—not only because I understand their child, but because I recognise the wider challenges families experience and work collaboratively to find practical, realistic solutions.

I also identify as autistic myself. While my professional knowledge and experience are the foundation of my work, my own lived experience gives me an additional perspective on the importance of creating environments where people feel accepted, understood and able to learn in ways that work for them.

Supporting neurodivergent people has never been just a job for me—it's something I genuinely care about. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing someone grow in confidence, recognise their own strengths and achieve goals they once thought were beyond their reach.

My approach is based on the belief that meaningful progress happens when people feel genuinely understood. Creating a calm, supportive environment where learners feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes and be themselves is the foundation of every session. From there, I adapt my teaching around the individual's strengths rather than expecting them to fit a standard teaching approach. Before focusing on learning goals, I take time to understand the individual behind the diagnosis—their strengths, interests, communication style, sensory preferences, motivations and the barriers they experience.

Sessions are highly personalised and may focus on areas such as executive functioning, communication, emotional confidence, independent living skills, study strategies, organisation, problem-solving or academic support, depending on the individual's goals and stage of life.

I have experience supporting autistic and neurodivergent teenagers and adults in educational settings, one-to-one tutoring and within their own homes. I also understand that neurodiversity affects the whole family, so where appropriate I work collaboratively with parents and carers, helping them better understand their child's learning style and develop practical strategies that can be used beyond our sessions.

Lessons are typically 60 minutes and are suitable for teenagers, university students and adults, although I also welcome enquiries from parents looking for personalised support for younger learners.

Above all, my goal is never to change who someone is. It is to help them understand themselves better, build confidence in their own abilities and develop practical strategies that allow them to thrive in education, work and everyday life.
