About Max
I studied Classics at the University of Exeter achieving both an undergraduate and a master’s degree in the subject. In 2025, I completed my PGCE in Latin with Classics, which has taught me how to deliver lessons in an effective way. I have taught Latin and Classical Civilisation at GCSE (both OCR and Eduqas) and A-Level. These qualifications add to my lifelong love and fascination with the ancient world and it is a pleasure that I am able to share this passion and hopefully pass it on to the next generation.

I am able to adapt my lessons to suit the needs of each student. Having completed my PGCE in 2025 I have a strong knowledge on what is on the curriculums.
For Latin, being able to recall vocabulary is crucial so I will strive to be constantly checking my students’ grasp of the vocabulary to give them an excellent base for understanding the language. I will also help the students to truly understand how sentences are put together so that they are not just memorising texts but fully engaging with them.
For Classical Civilisation, as well as working to improve their understanding of the content, I will help the students learn how to write written responses to exam questions that hit all of the signposts that the examiners will be looking for so that they can confidently tackle any questions.
