About Dylan

I am an experienced drum teacher offering private lessons alongside my work with the agency Music House in Woodhouse, Leeds. I teach both children and adults, from complete beginners to advanced players, and I tailor every lesson to the individual student. I am also a music theory tutor and teach beginner guitar and piano.

I have undertaken professional, industry-standard teaching training covering safeguarding, lesson preparation, and teaching methodology, ensuring a safe, structured, and effective learning environment. My teaching approach is entirely student-focused: whether you want to learn your favourite songs, build solid fundamentals, or develop into a competitive drummer within the UK music scene, I will support you at every step of your journey and help you achieve your goals.

Alongside teaching, I am a full-time professional musician and an active participant in the UK music scene. I have toured across Europe, playing and recording in Hungary and Germany, and have performed at world-renowned venues including the Royal Albert Hall and Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, as well as Birmingham Symphony Hall and Cardiff Symphony Hall. With over 15 years of performing experience, I have worked across a wide range of musical settings, including classical orchestras, jazz orchestras, jazz trios, and bands spanning rock, metal, indie, RnB, and hip-hop. I have also been involved in numerous world music projects influenced by traditions from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Hungary, India, Wales, America, and Spain.

This breadth of experience allows me to offer well-rounded, adaptable, and inspiring drum tuition for students of all backgrounds and ambitions.

About the lesson

Drum Lessons With Me

I’m a friendly and patient drum teacher who’s passionate about making every lesson enjoyable, supportive and tailored to you. Whether you’re an adult learning for the first time, picking the drums back up, or a beginner my aim is to create a space where you feel encouraged, confident and excited to learn.

What a Lesson With Me Looks Like

We start with some fun warm-ups and exercises I’ve prepared, followed by a bit of basic notation reading. The second half of the lesson is normally playing along to songs through speakers, exploring grooves, and building confidence on the kit. You’ll learn about: The different parts of the drum kit, playing to your favourite tracks, reading rhythms technique & coordination and optional learning from books and grade material if you’d like to work toward qualifications.

My Teaching Approach

I teach with positivity, patience and genuine love for the instrument.
I cater entirely to the student.

Practical Bits: Flexible scheduling — I do my best to find a weekly time that works for you. A full drum kit is provided at my lesson space (unless online or at your home). Online lessons available via Skype or Zoom I can travel across the whole Leeds area for in-person lessons. I’ll provide all exercises and sheet music.

I am completely open to discussing various different payment options including frequency of invoices, frequency of lessons and travel costs. If you are fairly close I can waive the travel fee and visa versa.
