About Charlotte
I am reading Philosophy at Cardiff University, but studied biology and chemistry at both GCSE and A Level. I have experience mentoring GCSE students during my Sixth Form studies, as well as providing private tutoring during my first and second year of university (2020-2022). I am confident and have experience in working with individuals, and groups of students.
I achieved six grade 9s at GCSE, including in biology, chemistry and physics. I am keen to share the revision techniques I used to achieve these grades at GCSE.

Though I have always enjoyed the sciences, I often struggled with my confidence at school, and this often hindered my ability to reach my potential. Thus, my aim is not only to improve my students’ grades, but to improve their confidence and enjoyment of chemistry and biology too.
My teaching method usually involves gauging my student’s ability level and their areas of weakness, and always refer to this when planning my sessions. I begin each lesson by returning to previous content and am keen to apply an appropriately repetitive teaching model to my lessons, ensuring all content is well understood before moving on.
I try to make my lessons fun and engaging, with a strong emphasis on student interaction. I don’t want my lessons to feel like a lecture, but an opportunity to ask questions and understand content students may not have been able to in the classroom.
I use a lot of past paper questions in my sessions to ensure students know how to apply their knowledge in an exam setting. I encourage students to have a go at the questions I ask them, but am always ready to explain content as many times as I need to. I also talk students through my way of approaching difficult exam questions, if they are unable to answer it themselves.
Finally, I always value student feedback, and will tailor my teaching style to the individual. I always encourage students to communicate how I can improve as their tutor, and can adapt to their needs.
