About Nia
Hi, I’m Nia! I'm a passionate math tutor and performer who makes learning math clear, confidence-boosting, and fun (ideally). I have a strong academic foundation in Applied Mathematics from Emory University and years of competitive math experience, I help students master everything from algebra to AP Calculus and Statistics. I’ve been part of top-ranking math teams, conducted university-level research, and taught students from elementary through college. But here’s what sets me apart: I also have a background in comedy, performance, and storytelling. As a stand-up comic, writer, and improviser, I know how to make tough concepts click by connecting them to real-life, relatable examples—and by creating a learning environment that’s engaging, supportive, and never intimidating. I aim to make every session interactive, accessible, and empowering. My lessons are ideal for middle school, high school, or college students, whether you're aiming for a perfect SAT Math score, prepping for a math competition, or just trying to pass your next quiz. As a tutor, my approach is centered on clarity, patience, and empowerment. I use step-by-step examples, and then we work through problems together—first collaboratively, then independently with feedback. I tailor lessons to the student’s class (Algebra, Precalc, Stats, etc.), goals (test prep, homework support, concept mastery), and learning style.
What sets me apart is my blend of academic rigor and empathy. With a background in competitive math and research at Emory University, I bring deep subject knowledge—but I also remember what it feels like to be stuck or overwhelmed. I’ve worked with students from grades 4 to college-level, including those in AP and IB programs, and I adapt my instruction to meet them where they are, whether they’re struggling or striving for the top.
