About Dan
I have extensive experience working in state primary education, specialising in Upper Key Stage 2 across a range of schools and settings in London and Essex. I hold a BA (Hons) degree in English & History and have full Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Alongside my teaching career, I have been tutoring students part-time for the past 10 years. I understand that every child is different, and I place great importance on identifying each student’s individual needs, strengths and areas for development in order to provide targeted support and help them achieve their full potential.
My approach is patient, supportive and encouraging. I create a positive learning environment where children feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and learning from them. I actively promote a ‘mistakes are part of learning’ culture and use growth-mindset principles to build confidence, resilience and independence.
My aim is not only to help students improve academically, but also to develop their confidence and enjoyment of learning, equipping them with the skills and belief they need to succeed.

My tutoring is tailored to each child’s individual needs, helping to identify gaps in knowledge, strengthen key skills and build confidence. I aim to make learning enjoyable while providing structured, focused support that delivers real progress.
For children preparing for Year 6 SATs, I can provide targeted practice, revision and exam techniques across English and Maths, helping pupils feel prepared and confident.
For 11+ preparation, I focus on developing strong foundations, problem-solving skills, mathematical reasoning, English comprehension and writing ability, alongside effective exam strategies.
