About Helena

All my lessons are tailored to a student's individual requirements. I am particularly experienced at supporting children with additional needs, such as dyslexia. Lessons are one hour long, and I work hard to ensure they are engaging and that each child makes the maximum progress possible in that time. After 18 years of teaching, I have excellent subject knowledge and professional experience delivering the specifications for AQA, Edexcel and Eduqas.

About the lesson

After working as an Assistant Headteacher and teacher in a large secondary school for 15 years, I've been working as a private tutor for the last couple of years. I absolutely love tutoring and have an excellent track record of exam results and supporting students to achieve academic success. Private tutoring allows me to really invest my energy in a student in a way that can't always be achieved in the classroom with 29 other students. The process is a mutual commitment and I promise to work just as hard as you do to help you fulfil your potential not just in your subject, but also across other subjects that you study with the skills we'll learn together.

Highly recommend. We began using Helena beginning of Year 11 as my daughter was struggling due to information processing dyslexia. My daughter has developed extremely well in both Language and Literature and said she understands it and learnt more in a few tutor sessions than year 10. Her confidence has grown and her enjoyment and motivation for English has u turned. Her mock results exceeded our expectations. Helena’s sessions have had such a positive impact on our daughter’s confidence. Highly recommend.
