Your singing lessons will be all about YOU and your specific goals, completely student-led. Learn the music that you love to sing at your speed. Choose your pathway or find your style; Musical Theatre / Classical / Rock / Pop or a little of everything! - Learn safe and sustainable vocal technique by working on tension relief in the tongue and jaw, SOVT warm-up exercises and correct breathing techniques. - Learn how your voice works through Vocal Pedagogy and anatomy - your whole body is an instrument when singing! - Performance and song delivery coaching to develop stage presence, emoting and acting through song. - Song and sheet music analysis. Singing examinations: -Trinity Rock & Pop singing Grades 1-8 - LCME musical theatre Grades 1-8 -ABRSM Music theory grades 1-5 First Lesson: (this is a basic outline of what your first lesson could look like; your specific needs and aims may cause this to differ) Your first lesson will begin with a short conversation with the student and/or parent to establish goals and musical interests. Next you will be guided through a series of vocal warm ups and breathing exercises to prepare your voice for singing. This will initiate a positive practice routine that focuses on your vocal health and improving your technique. In this time we will also do some scales to identify your strengths, areas for improvement and discover your voice type. You will then begin working on your previously prepared chosen song and work with Jess to make improvements based on your initial performance, the needs of the song and your long term goals. This will help to identify your current experience level and areas to work on in the future. At the end of the lesson you will have a final discussion and be given rehearsal materials for the following lesson. If you are interested in taking Singing and Music Theory exams the curriculum will be taught in practice; however, where necessary, classes dedicated to music theory alone will also be available.
