About Penelope
Hi! My name is Penelope and I have been a special education teacher and administrator for the past 12 years. I have experience working with many different abilities, disabilities and diagnosis. I have extensive experience working with students who have autism. I am certified to teach special education for grades K-12 although most of my experience has been teaching grades K-8. I love teaching, and learning from, all of my amazing students!
I enjoy being able to witness my students make gains and progress in a variety of areas, from academic to life skills.
I have been a special education teacher and administrator for twelve years. I am certified to teach Special Education to grades K-12 and I do have experience in all grade levels, however most of my teaching experience has been in grades K-8. I have worked with a variety of abilities and needs including children with autism spectrum disorder, behavioral diagnosis, complex medical contains etc.

When I first meet with a new student I spend essential time getting to know them a little and learning about their unique learning styles and needs. I ask questions to determine which content areas they are looking for help in as well as the best approach for delivering the information. I am encouraging and supportive while working through lessons and I believe in positive reinforcement as a way of motivating learners
