About Gary

I am a fully qualified teacher with over 30 years’ experience across education, including roles as Headteacher, Secondary Mathematics Teacher, University Lecturer and SENDCo. I currently work as an Associate Tutor within a university Education Department while undertaking a Doctorate in Education.

My specialist subject is Mathematics, and I have taught across the full Primary National Curriculum as well as GCSE Maths, English Language and the Sciences. I also have extensive Early Years experience, developing strong foundations in literacy and numeracy.

With over 15 years as a SENDCo, I specialise in closing knowledge gaps, supporting students with additional needs and rebuilding academic confidence. I prepare students for 11+, 12+, 13+ and university entrance exams through a structured, research-informed approach that promotes both exam success and independent learning.

About the lesson

I particularly enjoy one-to-one teaching, as it allows me to tailor learning to each pupil’s individual needs. I incorporate students’ interests into lesson planning to ensure sessions are engaging, relevant and motivating.

I have extensive experience supporting pupils with SEND, as well as those who have fallen behind in their learning. I have taught widely across the primary phase and also bring strong experience in Mathematics at GCSE and A level.

I am happy to travel to pupils’ homes. I firmly believe that learning should be both rewarding and enjoyable, fostering confidence as well as academic progress.
