About Malik

My name is Malik Gaffney, and I’m the founder of Make It Happen Training. I currently coach at Moravian Prep and with the YNG Dreamerz of OTE (Overtime Elite), working daily with high-level athletes competing on national platforms. I also played college basketball at Spartanburg Methodist College and Limestone University, giving me firsthand experience of what it takes to compete and succeed at the next level.

I’ve helped develop players such as Eli Ellis, Isaac Ellis, Kohl Rosario, Jordan Marsh, Mayar Wol, Jackson Holt, Jaiden Haynes, Caleb Jones and more.

When you train with me, expect intensity, structure, and real accountability. Every session is game-speed, detail-oriented, and designed to translate directly to live competition. I don’t believe in wasted reps. We focus on skill development that actually shows up in games — advanced ball handling, shot creation, footwork, decision-making, and position-specific reads. I coach with energy, but I also teach the “why” behind everything we do so players build true basketball IQ.

What makes me different is experience at the elite level. I understand what college coaches and high-level programs look for because I’ve coached players who compete at that level — and I’ve been there as a player myself. Whether you’re trying to make varsity, dominate AAU, earn scholarship opportunities, or prepare for prep and national competition, I know what it takes — and I hold my athletes to that standard.

If you’re serious about your development and ready to work, I’ll make sure you improve. My goal isn’t just to run drills — it’s to help you Make It Happen.
