About Oluomachi
I recently graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science in biological sciences. I was accepted to medical school during my sophomore year of college through the FlexMed program at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. I will be matriculating in the Fall 2021. I also have interests in fitness and fashion. I started a fitness Youtube channel called COFITNESS with my friend. We share great exercises and encourage people to build companionships through fitness. I also taught myself how to sew on the machine. I have been practicing and creating different garments for myself and a few clients.
I attribute part of my academic success to the tutors I have in my schooling, and it is my desire to use the learning and teaching skills I have developed to support other students in meeting their academic goals. At Cornell University, I was a general chemistry teaching instructor for about two years, facilitating interactive problem-solving sessions. I later began tutoring organic chemistry, which has been my favorite course learning and teaching because it challenged me to understand and visualize molecules and reactions while inciting my own creativity. I have tutored organic chemistry for 2 years now. Many of my students have said that I am really good at explaining concepts and guiding them with questions. I am excited to help you learn and see you grow as a student!
I started teaching while in college after performing well in my pre-med courses and demonstrating good leadership and communication skills. Specifically, I was selected by my Cornell general chemistry professor to be a Teaching Assistant for the course. As a teaching assistant, I helped create worksheets and co-led weekly 2-hour problem-solving sessions of 20 students. I also graded mock general chemistry exams.
I later was selected as an organic chemistry tutor. I received an A+ in both organic chemistry 1 and 2. Organic chemistry was my favorite course and is my favorite to tutor. I hosted Zoom office hours 4 hours a week where students would come in and ask questions. I worked with 100+ students throughout the semester.
I later began private tutoring over the VarsityTutors platform. I have received great feedback from my students who describe me as patient, good at explaining concepts, and extremely helpful.
I have been an organic chemistry tutor for 2 years at my undergraduate university, Cornell University. I have also tutored privately through VarsityTutors, where I am a 4.9/5 star tutor.
