About Brandon
I've recently received my B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with honors from UC Davis. I have 3 years of experience tutoring general chemistry and organic chemistry at the undergraduate college level and am published in chemistry education journals. I understand what students struggle with because I have been there and have learned from it with the research that I have done!

The interaction with students is rewarding to me because I think that there is a scientist in all of us that has the ability to understand the world around them and think critically about what they see. There's no feeling that can beat when a student has a lightbulb moment on a topic that they've been struggling with!
My love for teaching started with teaching calculus to my friends in high school. I loved the back and forth interaction and the teamwork involved in getting my friends to understand a topic. I eventually ended up becoming a learning assistant for undergraduate chemistry classes and being published and moved on to working for the tutoring center at UC Davis, with an emphasis on chemistry.
I've studied biochemistry for the last 4 years, so I have taken a lot of chemistry classes in pursuit of my major. In addition to my degree, I was a tutor and learning assistant for general chemistry and organic chemistry for the UC Davis tutoring center and have conducted academic research in chemistry education under Dr. Gulacar at UC Davis.

When working with a new student, the most important thing is to learn how a student learns best and how the tutoring process can be catered to their needs. After learning how a student likes to learn most, I like to set up long term and short term goals to keep us focused on what we should be working on.
Most of the students that I have worked with were 1st or 2nd years in college.
