About Sahiti

As a student myself, I find that my biggest struggle in middle school and high school, even through my first year of college was asking for help. For almost as long as I can remember, it has always felt like every one of my other peers was smarter, sharper, and in every way better than I was. It wasn't until I started tutoring, and working as a Professor's assistant for both chemistry and organic chemistry in college, that I realized this was a problem that almost every student struggles with. I also realized through my time spent as a tutor and a TA that answering one unanswered question, or spending one extra hour with the material could be the difference between someone developing a passion for a subject and them rejecting it completely. I hope to be the person that answers the question, and gets my fellow students excited about what they're studying, the way that I have come to.

I love working with students like me, and getting people excited about the things that I'm excited about.

I started teaching/tutoring in my freshman year of college, where I worked with students in my own classes. From there, I worked as a general chemistry tutor, as well as a general chemistry professor's assistant, and then subsequently an organic chemistry professor's assistant.

I'm a third year Biochemistry major at University of Southern California. I've worked as a general chemistry tutor, and a general chemistry/organic chemistry professor's assistant. I currently work/do research in a chemical biology lab.

About the lesson

Diving into learning! Typically, I would like students to formulate a list of questions for me beforehand. In my experience, the hardest part of studying is knowing what you don't know - so if I'm meeting a student once a week, they could spend that week accumulating a list of written questions, problems, or concepts that they don't understand, that we can go over.

If the student also has a homework assignment, or any study material provided by their teacher, that is also helpful to go over.

I've worked with mostly high school and college students, struggling with math, chemistry or biology :)

Look for someone who has studied or studies the subject you're studying as a full time passion, and look for their specialization.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Think about how much help you may or may not need, how often you need to meet, how much supplementary work you would like your tutor to provide, etc. These are all helpful, because every student is different :)
