About Kayla
As a career cheerleading coach with experience in behavioral health and student life coaching, I understand that success is so much more than just knowing information. I push students to be the best version of themselves by working on life skills, study skills, and personal development - the soft skills required to gain success and confidence in ALL subjects!
I love when people achieve a goal, whether its a cheerleading skill or getting into the college of their dreams! I have coached a long time, and my fondest memories are the little "aha moments" when kids finally figure out that they CAN do it! Instilling confidence is a major part of my tutoring style, and I find that improved confidence and soft skills leads to improvement in all subjects!
Through coaching, really. I have always loved teaching skills, so the classroom setting was appealing to me pretty organically.
I have an MA in professional counseling and a BS in psychology. I've also worked in student success, career planning, and teaching at the college level. I've been an academic advisor and I've coached every age!

I build rapport and gain trust, then we start identifying goals and working on a plan. Kids often feel overwhelmed when they're struggling at something, and "tutoring" can feel like failure. My goal is to guide them through achieving the goals they set by coaching and cheering them on along the way!
Preschool - college!
Find someone you can connect with. There's definitely no reason to ever feel intimidated when working with a tutor. The goal is to make YOU better, so each session should be person-centered and not about the tutor at all!
I guess I'm pretty fond of my recent marriage! My best friend of 12 years and I eloped in December 2018, and we've been having a blast ever since!
