About Austin

I love teaching art because I like being able to help people express themselves, share their creativity, and bring their ideas to life. I love how art empowers people.

I started doing student teaching when I was in highschool. There I discovered how much I enjoyed doing it. So after I graduated college I continued to persue it.

I have been an artist since I was 5 years old, I have over 16 years of painting experience under my belt, And I have been teaching art for about 10 years. I graduated from Art Center College of Design with a degree in illustration and a minor in entertainment art. I was privately trained in drawing, painting, cartooning, and animation by several different mentors and working professionals.

About the lesson

I usually like to go over the basics of shapes and line. These concepts allow students to draw whatever they want and its easy to work from there into more complex subjects.

All ages, from young children to adults; and I have worked with people at all levels.

Look for someone who knows what they are doing. Who can draw well, use photoshop correctly, and has a very good concept of storytelling.

I have been teaching a class on designing art for a video game based around the ecosystem with my current classes. One of my students designed a tiny shark prince that bosses around bigger sharks. I thought this was very funny. Lord Farquaad of sharks. It made me laugh.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
They should think about what their goals are for creating art. They should think about what they are most interested in learning in terms of tools, techniques, and styles. They should understand how much time and effort it takes to become really good at creating art. They should think about why they want to be an artist.
