I have a teaching license with the state of New Mexico. Currently, I teach 8th grade reading comprehension and test preperation at a local charter school. I have a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Connecticut.

My advice to a student looking to hire a teacher in my area of expertise is find a teacher who will meet you where you are at. Not everyone learns the same and that's a beautiful thing. You just need to find a teacher who can adapt their teaching style to your learning style.
Recently, I had all of the students in my class complete a civics essay for a competition through the City of Albuquerque. The essay asked students to come up with a solution to end homelessness in Albuquerque. Not only did the students really get into the topic, one of my kids was a finalist for the grand prize. She didn't win, but the next day we decorated her desk before she got to school and all of her classmates cheered her on for her hard work.
