About Julian
I have the experience, dedication, and attention to help with everything from complex academic problems to the development of sustainable studying habits and problem-solving capabilities. Whether one is looking to learn learning the basics of English grammar or master university-level academic writing or historical research, I will be happy to work with you to achieve your goals.
I approach tutoring in a systematic and highly attentive manner, by focusing in equal parts on the fundamentals of the given subject and student’s specific needs, capacities, and interests. This means each student works through a unique curriculum, simultaneously building interest, motivation, and confidence with the subject at hand. In order to do this, each part of the problem is broken down and understood. I don’t believe in shortcuts or tricks, because the best way to do well is not only to know the material but to comprehend its importance in a larger academic context.
I enjoy teaching because it is a process that involves everyone at the table, the student, the parents, and myself. Each person is unique and has their own strengths and of course, their areas in need of improvement. I enjoy helping to find and bring out those strengths. I enjoy organizing and following through on a course of study. I also am deeply committed to reading, writing, and the humanities in all forms, and love to pass the passion on to others.
