About Rachel
I am a senior at DePaul University studying Creative Writing with a minor in Psychology. Being currently enrolled in college gives me a greater insight into what college professors are looking for in essays, theses, and any creative endeavors. I am a published poet with a passion for creative writing, though I enjoy any form of essay writing. My hope is to spark an admiration of literature, english, and writing in every person I tutor, and to create an atmosphere of learning-based fun.
Growing up dyslexic, I did not always have self-esteem and motivation to push myself in school the way I could have. I enjoy showing others what they are capable of.
I grew up dyslexic, and thus, I grew up struggling learning to read and write, despite my craving to be able to do so. I began tutoring with Varsity Tutoring, and now this website, because I have a passion for helping others turn their own struggles into resiliance, and find the same love and respect for writing which I have acquired.
I am studying Creative Writing at DePaul University. I meet with a group of students each week to discuss our writings and to help each other flesh out ideas and copyedits.

I first like to get to know my new students: understand their hobbies, how these relate to the subject, and their biggest concerns and fears with the subject we are diving into!
I have mostly worked with my peers, college-aged students, though I open to most ages, elementary-leveled and up!
Find someone you relate to and feel comfortable with! Tutors are meant to be more than just a teacher, we are someone who pushes you, accomadates to your needs, and continuously affirms you despite error. Seek out a tutor who makes you feel at ease, who you will not feel silly asking questions to!

Rachel is an amazing help when it comes to drafting essays and any large pieces of writing-she helped me write my college essay and I was accepted into every school I applied for. Rachel is understanding of reading/writing difficulties and made a point of offering me special tools to help me feel confident about writing in the future, and she is never discouraging!
