About Tara

My approach is creative, flexible, and applies to a student's specific wants and needs.

I enjoy getting a resistent student to at least appreciate writing and literature, even if it's only a temporary enjoyment.

I started teaching preschool in 2001. Since then I have been all over the map as far as age and skill level, but now my primary focus is high school and special education students.

I have 5+ years experience and training as a high school Teacher of English and a Teacher of Students with Disabilities. I also have 10+ years teaching English Compostiion and Literature at the college level.

About the lesson

I aim to tailor instruction to the student's individual needs, wants, and interests. I also like to assess a new student's learning style and accomodate that style as much as possible. For example, if a student is more of a visual learner, then his or her instruction will include a lot of pictures, lists, charts, graphs, etc.

Pre-K, Middle School, and High School regular education and special education

Look for flexibility, humor, creativity, and constructive feedback.

I attend the New York City Poetry Festival every year in the summer, and this year I will be reading and selling my books and art work.
