About Idelle
I offer direct, one on one tutoring to other students to help them become more proficient in their English classes. I have been freelance helping fellow peers with their English studies for quite some time and have now decided to start helping others on the side as well to help me with my university savings. I have won multiple awards throughout the years; some of these were for my public speaking speeches, in essay writing contests, and best in class for English. I also believe that writing is a muscle not a skill, so even if you may think you could never get to the level of higher achieving students, I have found that with hard work and dedication you CAN and WILL improve.

With new students I first like to get a good idea of what level they are at and why they've come to me for help. I always start by asking questions like: What are you hoping to achieve from this? Why do you think you need help? What are your strong points/ weak points? To help a student first you have to understand them, and that is what I strive to do. After this process, I find it is good to follow up by giving students a short, one paragraph writing assignment, with a random, yet interesting prompt. This is simply to help me even further get an idea of a students level. From there I will edit their paragraph and rank how well they did each part of the paragraph (Did they write clearly, using a range of vocabulary and sentence structures, with accurate spelling, paragraphing, grammar and punctuation, etc.?). Each element will be reviewed with the student and from there I know where best to help them develop!
