About Kristine

Teaching is what I was born to do. I have always enjoyed interacting with children and teaching them to do anything and everything!

It is so important to have a teacher who understands what you need as a student and understands that everyone learns differently.

I have been a teacher for over 8 years with extensive experience working with students who have learning difficulties as well as multi-language learners. I have taught third and fourth grade all content areas.

My awards included Rookie Teacher of the Year as well as several teacher of the year nominations over the past eight years.

My experience in the classroom has been enhanced by district focused classes in both literacy and math. My state requires an add-on literacy certification.

My education includes a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Edication, grades 2-6 as well as a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.

In my classroom, my focus is building relationships with my students and families, utilizing Action Based Learning and content integration. The more fun we are having in class-the more we want to learn!

In my time outside of school, you will find me on the beach, spending time with my family or playing with my dogs. I also play the violin as well as golf!

I have always taught children. I taught children at church in Sunday School, various camps and even the neighborhood kids.
I decided to pursue teaching as a profession 15 years ago after being a teaching assistant in a special education class. I have been teaching full time in the public school setting for 8 years. I have taught first grade, third and fourth grades. I am currently a third grade teaching in a multi-language learning class.

About the lesson

After introductions, I like to let students know my own struggles and relating academic struggles with many other struggles in life. I like to find out what the student's interests are and what they enjoy learning about. Building a trusting relationship with the student is the most important first step.

Details

$25.00 for an hour of instruction. A typical scheduke will look like the following:

5 min: get to know student or how have things been going since we last met?

5 min: tell me what you are having trouble with and show me what you are working on

15 min: student will watch me complete similar problems or questions.

15 min: we will work problems or answer questions together

10 min: student will complete examples i dependently

Last 10 min: answer questions student may have and give feedback
