About Rebecca
I have taught all ages of students from pre-school to adult in three different countries. I'm passionate about all subjects and will help students with learning in each area they need, not only English. I'm also supportive in discussing and learning about lifeskills, college readiness, business and beyond.
I'm an advanced French speaker as well. I've taught in France (1 year), Indonesia (2 years), and the U.S.A. I've taught for about 5 years in Minneapolis, MN. I have a K-12 ESL license in Minnesota, and a Masters in Teaching English to Students of Other Languages (TESOL).

I started teaching so I could travel and fell in love with being able to help people communicate, which is why I chose TESOL. I enjoy meeting people from other cultures and helping us all learn from teaching and learning.
I have been teaching for over 8 years. I have a Masters in Teaching English to Students of Other Languages (TESOL), and a Minnesota teaching license in ESL K-12.

I first want to have a meeting with the student(s) and parent(s) (if applicable) to better understand student goals, motivations, and interests. This way I can design a plan best suited for them. I have a very calm, patient, and welcoming approach with all of my students. I believe part of my job is a coach to help students achieve their success.
I have worked with students of all ages, from pre-school to adult, in corporate settings, and K-12 public schools.
I would find out what your teacher's passions are, and how they were as a young learner and learner today. We often learn by teaching, and teach from learning so this is important. I have learned a lot from self-study, so I help students accumulate these skills so they become better learners.
Recently, I helped a student develop the ability to write better by understanding the importance of reading. Her English speaking was great, but she wasn't familiar with how sentences are structured in writing so none of her sentences were making sense. She started reading on her phone and her writing greatly improved. I've also helped several students do well on their exams because I'm familiar with what the exams are asking for.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students shouldn't be afraid to ask questions. Please always ask a question, at least one. If you don't have a question, re-state something the teacher said. "From what I understand, you mean..." and give an example. This will help students learn better.
