About Judy
I have experience working with kids from 10 years old through adults in graduate school. I am a certified teacher and I have an MA in English and an MFA in Creative and Professional Writing. I teach at Montclair State University and NJIT. I am a professional writer but I love teaching and helping others become the best reader and writer they can be.
I love literature and writing and I come from a family of teachers. It just made sense. Plus, I am dyslexic so I love showing students that if I can do it, anyone can.
I have a BA in English, an MA in English and an MFA in Creative and Professional Writing. I am always keeping up on professional developments so that I can best serve my students.

I usually try to ascertain what their needs are and ask them to write something short to help me understand how I can best help them.
The youngest have been in 4th grade and the oldest have been writing their dissertations.
Make sure you have a teacher who is certified and has advanced degrees in the subject area. There are tons of English teachers but many of them aren't very good.
I had a student who just had not gotten the foundation she needed, but was so motivated. She didn't even know the rules for capitalization. But she worked so hard and improved immensely. I am so proud of her.
