About Cynthia
I genuinely love helping kids work through their learning process. It's so exciting when something finally clicks! Having good teachers was always one of the most important things in my life that helped me gain confidence in myself, even outside of the subject that teacher was for. I always want to help kids find that same confidence
I have 3 years of experience teaching middle to high school aged students in music lessons and basic reading skills, as well as assisting with undergraduate students learning when I was in grad school.

When I'm getting to know a new student, I first get to know who they are as a person and where they're currently at in their learning process. I like to ask them what strategies have worked best for them so far, and make a plan together for how we should work on things.
The most important aspect, to me, when teaching is listening carefully to my students, and understanding that confidence in their learning comes from feeling respected and heard.

Be confident about what you feel like you're struggling with! You know yourself better than anyone, but also teachers aren't psychic :) if something is giving you trouble thats okay! Lets talk about it and figure out a plan together

Details
It depends on how involved the lessons will be. If we are just working through their assigned school work to help with online learning this semetser, then my base rate will be around $25/hour depending on travel time. If there is additional lesson preparation needed we might discuss a higher rate.
