About Anahita

I have been a substitute teacher for grades 6-12, for 3 years, helping students explore new ways to enjoy learning. My educational experience began at Union School District, located in San Jose CA, and relocated to Monterey Peninsula Unified School District, located in Monterey CA.

I began substitute teaching because I have a gift of helping students feel heard & accepted. My goal is to create non-judgemental enviornments & create win-win solutions.

In the words of Carlos Santana "I enjoy seeing humans get their wings." The moment a student realizes they are capable is the reason I do what I do.

I began teaching as a means to start my own business, and I felt the students really connected with my method of teaching. I noticed most, if not all, students completed their work while I was in the classroom; even those who the teacher has deemed as disruptive.

I have completed requirements to hold a guest teacher/substitute position within the state of California. With a Bachelors of Science in Culinary Management, Certification as an Aromatherapist, experience as a guest teacher, and multiple leadership roles, I have extensive interpersonal skills as well as intuition & compassion that create a beautiful environment for students to thrive.

About the lesson

I enjoy the student expressing their likes & dislikes about school because I gain a better understanding of what they enjoy. I become aware of their capabilities & how we can match that to what is expected of them.

I have worked with students of all social & economic backgrounds. I have spent time teaching at a school for students between the ages of 5-21 who have mental & bahvioral disorders; as well as, the rainbow of students who are enrolled within the public school system.

Hire a teacher you feel inspires you. A teacher who allows you to be yourself, sees you for you, is willing to help you suceed, and is positive, yet not dismissive, is a healthy loving & respectful being, and is a mirror of what you deserve.

I was a guest teacher in a lower level math class for highschool. Within minutes of entering, the co-teacher began to express her frustrations with the school system & the students. Sadly, she felt burnt out, like many teachers in schools who have little to no funding. I spoke to the students, in the beginning of the class, about what we, as a team, were expected to accomplish, and I asked them if they felt they were capable of this. If any students did not feel up to it, we then came to a win-win solution. Talking to the students as adults, yet still understanding they are children, helped them feel heard, accepted, and safe. Acknowledging each student motivated them to work, and allowed myself & the co-teacher to spend quality time with each one.
